Common Causes for Hip Joint Pain

Hip and groin discomfort symptoms can significantly disrupt your daily life, but discovering the true causes is essential for effective treatment. At Preston Specific Physiotherapy, we’re dedicated to helping you understand the various factors contributing to hip joint pain and providing targeted relief. Hip muscle imbalances, including issues with the gluteus medius and gluteus maximus, can be a primary source of discomfort. Additionally, problems with the femoral head, hip flexors, and thigh bone can also trigger hip pain. These issues may result from injuries, degenerative condition like avascular necrosis, osteoarthritis, labral tears or even issues in the opposite leg or pelvis.

Activities involving hip abduction, hip adduction, or hip internal rotation can exacerbate hip problems. Swelling and stiffness symptoms often accompany severe cases of hip pain, making daily life challenging. Hip flexor tightness in the groin area from resistance training exercises like mini squats can cause hip groin pain and lower back symptoms. Chronic inflammation is an issue with tissue healing with more blood supply that leads to increased pain over longer periods of time. Our experienced team conducts thorough evaluations, utilises diagnostic tools like x-ray, and delves into your medical history to pinpoint the causes of your hip pain. We then create personalised treatment plans that may include addressing synovial fluid concerns, using external rotation techniques, and employing TENS machines, heat packs, massage and acupuncture to alleviate symptoms.
