Physiotherapy Ivanhoe: What To Expect
1. Introductory Assessment
At the time of your physiotherapy consultation, we discuss your specific concerns and review your medical history, followed by an in-depth assessment. This allows us to gather essential information about any chronic conditions, musculoskeletal or sports injuries you have, so we can identify the most effective manual therapy tailored to your needs.
2. Information and Treatment Planning
Now that we understand your situation, it's our chance to enlighten you! We use visual learning tools, including anatomy models and informative posters, to give you a detailed explanation of your condition. Afterwards, we'll present your manual therapy options and seek your input.
3. In-Clinic Treatment
In our physiotherapy clinic, we provide your hands-on treatment, which may include dry needling, joint mobilisation, Clinical Pilates, or remedial massage, or perhaps a combination of these, all with a welcoming smile.
4. Training and Ongoing Support
The care we provide doesn't just stop at hands-on therapy. We're committed to ongoing support to help you avoid potential injuries, as anyone can be susceptible— injury prevention isn't exclusively for those who are already injured!

FAQs
Do I need to have a referral to book an appointment with a physio?
A referral isn’t necessary for a physiotherapy consultation. Book your session online at our clinic, and we will work alongside you to craft a specific treatment plan.
Do you provide treatment for chronic pain?
Certainly, we provide support for chronic pain management. We understand its impact on daily life and aim to assist in its management. The Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program allows those with an EPC plan to access up to five allied health sessions per year, and our experience with chronic conditions under this program is extensive. For further information, check out our chronic pain page here.
Is your clinic experienced in treating athletes?
Yes, we do! Our proud association with AFL teams and continuous relations with AFL athletes demonstrate our commitment to sports performance. Whether your aspiration is to become a Magpie or Hawk, or to just up your game in supporting roles like running or assisting at your children’s soccer games, we support athletes of all abilities and ambitions.
Is it possible to have treatment during my initial consultation?
In many instances, it’s possible to have your treatment on the same day as your first assessment. There might be times when this isn’t achievable, for instance, if we need to refer you for further examination elsewhere. Generally, though, treatment on the day of your assessment is a realistic expectation.
Where can I find Specific Physiotherapy?
You’ll find Specific Physiotherapy ideally located at 149 Plenty Road, Preston, Vic, offering a convenient location for your physiotherapy appointments.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
Your individual condition and goals determine the number of physiotherapy sessions you’ll need, so it’s not a universal figure. At your first appointment, we’ll discuss an expected number of sessions and inform you of any changes as your treatment progresses.
Are TAC and WorkCover patients accepted at your clinic?
Our clinic offers care for private patients as well as individuals under TAC and WorkCover. To get more information, we encourage you to contact us.
